IF YOU DIED TODAY, WOULD YOU GO TO HEAVEN?
Your answer to this question is the difference between having true
peace and joy in your life or a continual unexplainable emptiness
regardless of your financial or physical situation.
Some questions seemingly have no answer...but this one does !
Each of us is responsible for our own decision in this matter.
Just because our mother or father are good people or go to church
doesn't mean they, or us are going to heaven.
There is only one authority for answering this question. That
is the word that God himself inspired men to write, which is now
referred to as The Holy Scriptures or the Holy Bible. So lets see
what God has to say about going to heaven.
FIRST: We must acknowledge what the Bible says about our
natural state and that we are separated from God because of our sins
(wrong doings). There is no one who can say they have not done
something wrong (sinned). Therefore, if we are separated from
God...we are lost.
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and
your sins have hid his face from you..." Isaiah 59:2
"For all have sinned and come short or the glory of God;... "
Romans 3:23
SECOND: When we are lost (separated from God) there is only
one way to get to heaven and that is to be saved by the grace of God
through Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves!
"For the Son of man (Jesus Christ) is come to seek and to save
that which was lost" Luke 19:10"
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 Jesus saith unto
him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me." John 14:6
Note: Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life (not just a
way).
THIRD: We cannot work our way to heaven, by trying to be a
good person, doing good deeds or living in a church building.
Everyone should attend church, but attending church doesn't make you
a Christian (Christ like) any more than living in a horse barn makes
you a horse. Salvation is the gift of God !
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should
boast." Ephesians 2:8, 9
FOURTH: We must repent (decide to turn away from our sin),
ask the Lord to forgive us and save us.
"I(the Lord Jesus) came not to call the righteous, but sinners to
repentance." Mark 2:17 " I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3
FIFTH: We must believe and accept God's gift.... "salvation
through faith in Jesus Christ."
"...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved,...Acts 16:31 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation." Romans 10:9,10
If you have never asked the Lord to save you or if there are
doubts about your salvation, we encourage you to settle the matter
once and for all right now.
Admit your lost condition as a sinner before a holy God, and turn to
the Lord Jesus by faith and trust in Him alone for the payment and
forgiveness of your sins and the gift of eternal life....and GET
READY FOR HEAVEN !
Perhaps these words will help you express your heart to the Lord.
This is not a prayer to be learned and repeated over and over, in
fact the Bible warns us against "vain repetitions" (mouthing words
over and over that have little or no meaning in our hearts and
lives), but it may help you in your talk with God.
"Dear Father in heaven, I know that I am a sinner, lost and
condemned for hell, but the best I know how I'm begging you now to
save me. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again. And
right now by faith, I receive Jesus Christ into my heart as my
Saviour. Thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for my
sins. Thank you for saving me and giving me a home in heaven. Now
help me live for you from this day forward. AMEN"
If you asked God to save you and meant it then you can be sure
that you are going to heaven, for Jesus said:
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not
come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John
5:24
My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me: And I
give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father which gave them
me is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my
Father's hand. I and my Father are one. John 10: 27-30
