Hope Haven Gospel Mission is a homeless shelter that works to serve the needs of the homeless, hungry, and poor of Central Maine. We serve God by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the disadvantaged, broken and addicted.

 The U.S. Dept of Justice estimates that 114,600 kidnappings and abductions are attempted each year. This video shows how real children reacted to being approached by strangers.

 Working with an NBC affiliate and local law enforcement, the XEL-Defense Team went out to see how the average child would respond to tactics frequently  used by predators.

 This ground-breaking video covers the shocking footage captured through  hidden cameras as the children, one by one, did the exact opposite of what their parents had instructed them to do.

Thanking our Military

We wish to take this time to thank God for all our men and women in uniform, over in the Middle East, as well as those here in the United States. Their allegiance and courage to the cause of freedom on foreign soil is greatly appreciated. For those who have paid the ultimate price, may they never be forgotten. Their sacrifices give hope while their absence still echo's in our hearts. Our Country owes them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. We are so blessed to have heroes as these in America. A special thank you to all our military. To whom it may concern,

This mission field is often utterly neglected. Usually it's considered the domain of secular groups or government programs. "The Government will take care of them," we say.

It is not an exciting or romantic mission field. You get your hands dirty. Drunks throw up on you. You're surrounded by utter hopelessness day-in and day-out.

You are dealing day-by-day and hour-by-hour with people who have been chewed up and spit out by the world, people whom the enemy has dragged through the lowest of low places. People who need food, clothing, and a place to sleep, but don't have a penny to their name with which to pay for it. Men, women, and children of all ages - from the newborn baby to the elderly grandmother.

It's an endless mission field. One with a continual supply of work. One with no glamour and rarely even a "thank you."

This is the mission field of the gospel rescue mission.
