In today's world of instant access to information, many people find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to finding answers to pressings questions. This is especially true of school children. In times past a local library served as the destination for one's study needs. That's also true today as library's have computer rooms with internet access. What is a child to do if they don't live close to such an institution? A computer in the home provides the gateway to the super information highway. A destination that is not available without a computer.
That's why Hope Haven Gospel Mission has created the Computers of Hope program. We want to provide the means to reach that super highway of knowledge. By seeking computers that are used and refurbishing them, we can help those individuals and families that need one.
Would you like to be part of this wonderful endeavor? Do you have a used computer (preferably no older then 6 years) that could be cleaned up and reused? Or how about that old XP operating system you no longer use? Flat Panel Monitors, keyboards and mice are also needed. Let's not forget that modem on the shelf because many poor families can't afford high speed internet, but use dial-up.
If you have any of these things and are local to the Lewiston-Auburn, ME area then please drop them off at our mission.
