A Word from the Director
Dr. Paul McLaughlin
The Hope Haven Gospel Mission began in November of 1982, as a
shelter and soup-kitchen in what is known as Little Canada, in
Lewiston, Maine. It began with a group of burdened Christian men,
that had a vision for the poor and needy.
Today it is one of the largest Gospel Missions in the northeastern
New England area: that is helping all classes of people with various
needs, from within and without of the Community.
The primary function of our organization is as follows:
■ House, feed and care for the needs of homeless individuals and
families through our emergency shelter.
■ Offer temporary shelter to
willing and serious minded men through our "G.R.A.C.E.
Rehabilitation Program" that is available for those needing help.
■ Morning and Evening feeding to street people through our
soup-kitchen. Lunch is served on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.
We also have chapel services on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays in the evening.
■ Helping others with encouragement and hope.
Our main source of support is through contributions.
As the Executive Director of Hope Haven Gospel Mission, and an
advocate for the homeless, I wish to welcome and invite you
personally to become a partner of this ministry. Giving Hope to the
Helpless through this ministry of compassion for others provides
help and healing, and also brings glory to God. According to much
detailed data, the Homeless are one of the most neglected segments
of our population. There is an estimated homeless population of over
9 million people, in the United States. They are young and old, abled and disabled. They are unemployed individuals and families,
disabled veterans, runaway youth, teenage mothers, low income
families, deinstitutionalized psychiatric patients, and countless
others who find themselves linked by a common thread of poverty and
hopelessness.
With your faithful support and burden for those, who are considered
by some to be the outcasts of our society, together, we can make a
difference in a life that counts. Hope sometimes comes through acts
of charity from those who have nothing to loose, and much to gain.
It is our prayer that you would join us, and become a part of our
purpose and cause.
Thank you and God bless you for taking the time to visit our web
site, and have a wonderful day.
